Deer Hunter: African Safari - Hints and Tips

By now most of you are enjoying our latest iteration of Deer Hunter - African Safari. The game, though familiar to anyone who has played Deer Hunter 3D, has undergone a few changes and we want to make sure you guys know how to get points, unlock new locations and more.

Below you'll find some great hints and tips that should help you make the most out of your hunt.

How to get the points target for a hunt:

To successfully complete a level you have to gain the most points you can. To do this you should stick to a few simple rules:

1. Choose the weapons which give the highest bonus.
2. Kill animals which give the highest bonus. The bonus is largely dependent on the weight of the animal.
3. Kill animals from far away - this also increases the bonus.

Unlocking new locations:

First, pass all countries on Rookie difficulty level, then on Scout, then on Veteran and only at the end on Master level. When you pass South Africa on any difficulty level Cameroon at that level is unlocked, and Tanzania is unlocked only after you pass Cameroon on the same difficulty level.

Weapons:

Since the Bolt rifle is the only available weapon at the beginning, the first recommended thing is to get a better rifle, which gets you more bonus points.

Animals:

The most valuable animal in the game is the elephant, after that comes the lion, buffalo, and then the zebra, and the least valuable animal is the kudu.

If the animal is some way in the distance it is recommended to wound him with a rifle, so that it runs towards you, and then to finish him with a shotgun or crossbow. This gives you the maximum bonus.

How quickly the animal notices you depends on how close you are standing to it.

Progression:

As you progress through Safari it’s recommended to buy all the rifles which give a bonus, buy the basic equipment, and upgrade your skills. Ideally, when you finish Safaris on all difficulty levels for the first time you should have a double rifle, a single shot rifle, a scent blocker, a monocular and a monopod. In addition, you should have Accuracy and Reflexes at maximum level, or maximum level in Accuracy, a crossbow and 4th level Reflexes. Weapons which do not fire bullets or shells are easier to pass the game with. The crossbow is quiet and gives a very big bonus, but it causes very little damage and has a very low fire rate. By contrast, the shotgun has a high rate of fire and causes serious damage, but its bonus is less than the crossbow.
